Anatomy of a useful question

The wrong answers deserve attention, too.

A multiple-choice question needs a precise prompt, a defensible correct answer, and alternatives that test the intended idea. Start with the answer key, then review the options together.

01 · The question

Ask one thing.

“What is 8 × 4?” has one clear task. Avoid combining two questions, hiding the key detail, or using a vague word such as “best” without defining the criterion.

02 · The alternatives

Keep choices comparable.

For the arithmetic example, all options are numbers. In other subjects, keep answer type, grammar, and level of detail consistent so formatting does not give the answer away.

03 · The explanation

Make the reveal useful.

“Eight groups of four make 32” explains the relationship. A concise reason can help a learner see what to change after an incorrect guess.

Three options or four?

Use the count that fits the question and the viewing space. You can try both in the example above without generating a quiz.

3

A compact choice set

Useful when you have two strong alternatives or need more breathing room on a small screen. Keep every option relevant.

4

Room for another alternative

Use a fourth option when it adds a plausible distinction. Check the longest answer in the video preview so no choice becomes difficult to read.

Create, review, then present.

  1. 1

    Choose your starting point

Generate from a topic or source, or create the question manually. Set the language, question count, and difficulty for an AI draft.

  2. 2

    Edit the answer key

Read every option and select the single correct answer. Remove duplicate choices and any alternatives that could also be correct.

  3. 3

    Add context and timing

Write a short explanation, choose narration if wanted, and give the audience enough time to read the longest option.

  4. 4

    Check the final preview

Look at each question on the intended screen, listen to any narration, and check the answer reveal before rendering.

Match the quiz to the audience.

Classroom recap
Focus on concepts already covered. Use the explanation to reinforce the lesson, and check the draft against your teaching material.
Training refresher
Use the current handbook or process as the reference. Keep the correct answer specific to the policy you are teaching.
Trivia video
Keep the prompt short, verify factual claims, and use alternatives that fit the topic. Readability matters more than squeezing in extra words.

Multiple-choice quiz questions

How do I create a multiple-choice quiz?

Choose multiple choice in the creator. Generate a draft from a topic or start manually, enter the question, add three or four options, and mark the correct answer. Add an explanation if useful, then review every question before sharing or rendering.

Can I use three answer options instead of four?

Yes. The multiple-choice generator and editor support three or four options. Choose the count that gives you plausible alternatives. Do not add a weak fourth option just to fill a slot.

Can more than one option be correct?

This quiz format uses one correct answer for each question. Selecting a different correct option replaces the previous selection. Rewrite or split questions that need multiple correct choices.

Can AI write the questions and distractors?

Yes. The AI generator can draft the question and answer options from a topic or supported source material. You can edit every option. Verify the correct answer and check that the distractors are plausible but clearly incorrect.

Can I add an explanation after the answer?

Yes. Add additional information to the correct answer in the editor. It can provide a short explanation during the reveal and narration, helping you explain the reasoning rather than only displaying a letter.

Is this a proctored exam or a learning management system?

Quiz.video focuses on creating quizzes and quiz videos. This workflow is not a substitute for proctoring, a formal gradebook, or high-stakes assessment review. Preview the quiz and use your usual assessment process when results matter.

Can I turn multiple-choice questions into an MP4?

Yes. Choose a video template, set the countdown, adjust text sizes, and optionally add narration. Preview the questions and answer reveals, then render a vertical or landscape MP4. Export access is shown in your account.

Make your next question count.

Start with a clear prompt, choose the answer key, and build a quiz your audience can follow.
